An Explication of The Garden of Love :: Garden of Love Essays
An Explication of The Garden of Love à à à à My original interpretation of "The Garden of Love" encompassed the speaker as a person who was scared to move on in their life and in love. I thought (he) was afraid of failure, afraid of losing childhood innocence in the wake of adulthood decisions and expectations. I funneled my theory into a neat little package that contained the Chapel as a symbol for marriage (or adult themes), and the Garden to stand for his life, or thoughts. I further belabored my opinion and interpretation. à After long deliberation with the writings of Blake 'experts,' I have conceded to concur with their interpretations of "The Garden of Love," and therefore: According to Ostriker, Blake "celebrates sexuality and attacks repression" (156). I agree that his attack on repression is apparent in this poem, in that Blake seems to want the speaker, and the readers, to take a chance on life, love, or sex. Whatever the convention of each individual, Blake wants us to not be afraid to go against the conventional. Yet the speaker in "The Garden of Love" is constrained to move forward with his own decisions, probably restricted by the strict conventions of the Church. The priests follow suit as a reminder of 'conventional holiness.' à Blake has often ridiculed the Church, and it seems as though he uses "The Garden of Love" to display the affects of the Church's manipulation on youth. Regarding the two youngsters kneeled behind the priest, Kauvar explains, "The bowed figures reveal the presence of Urizenic (def. Reason - mine) repression and morality, for instead of embracing, the youths kneel submissively behind the priest" (60). As I grasped in my first response to this poem, Blake's 'Garden' represents new growth and childhood innocence. Kauvar continues that thought with the opposite side, "but in Experience he sees nature dying and the graveyard supplanting the garden" (60). à It seems to me that Blake was highly disturbed with the manipulating effects placed on the public by the Church. I think he believed the public was mislead by the Church and its expectations, and further, believed their lives were governed as such. Pagliaro continues with the mention of, ".

Dengue prevention Essay
A very good morning to the principal, Mr. Gan, the senior assistant, Mrs. Lim, respected teachers and fellow friends. I am grateful for your presence and I am extremely delighted with this valuable opportunity to meet you all in this great morning. Frankly, it is honour to be entrusted to deliver a speech to you on the topic ââ¬Å"â⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦..â⬠Undoubtedly, it is the responsibility of the property owner to prevent mosquito breeding sources. The immature stages of the mosquito so called egg, larva or pupa develop in stagnant water. It takes seven to ten days from the time a mosquito lays her eggs, until 100 to 400 larvae or wrigglers begin their life, possibly in your backyard. The size of the container of water doesnââ¬â¢t matter, as mosquito larvae and pupa are small. In the event a breeding source is found, the owner must treat the problem and take steps to prevent the recurrence of breeding. By reducing the number of breeding sources, we can reduce the number of mosquitoes and cases of mosquito-borne disease. First and foremost, you are advised to use Abate or larvicide to kill mosquitoes and destroy the larva. Part from that, you can put some salt into the containers holding water as it prevents mosquitoes from breeding. Meanwhile, cover all water containers tightly to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs. It is utmost important to change water in the vases and tubs at least once a week, use mosquito repellents when necessary while following the instructions on the label. On the other hand, you are encouraged to be extra careful with the situations outside the house. Apparently, you can get rid of any standing water. Mosquitoes must have water in which to lay their eggs and develop into adults. Check old tires, buckets, rain gutters, watering cans, etc. If you have a bird bath, fountain, wading pool, or plant trays, it is a good idea to change the water at least once a week. Make sure that there are no containers that can collect water left lying around your garden. Importantly, fog your home if necessary. Be sure to keep swimming pools clean and chlorinated. If not in use, keep empty and covered. In addition, ensure that the drains and gutters are not clogged and clean. Remember to stock ornamental pools with goldfish because they eat mosquito larvae on the waterââ¬â¢s surface. Mosquito control is a community effort. You can also bury bottles, tins and old tyres. Last but not least, you can participate in preventing mosquitoes from breeding by doing the following simple chores around your home. Even the smallest thing will help and you will be surprised to find out what you can do. In a nutshell, we should keep an adage that time and tide wait for no man; we are supposed to strike the iron when hot. I have come to an end, this is all for today. Thank you for being a wonderful audience and I hope to share more of my thoughts with you in the near future. Thank you very much. China Lost Girls
Chinaââ¬â¢s Lost Girls China is largest population in the world because of that Chinese government decided a policy which is one-child policy. A family has only one child, but some case a family can have second child if they pay to government. One of big issue in China is balance of gender which means manââ¬â¢s population is much larger than femaleââ¬â¢s. Chinese people want to have a boy because a man carries the family name in Chinese culture; therefore, thousands of Chinese girls are aborted, hidden, abandoned, or even killed. Some of these girls are adapted to American family, but adaption takes more than a year. Many American families are waiting for adopted child. After they apply adoption, they can receive adopted childââ¬â¢s picture; however, they have to wait about one year to meet the child and cannot know anything about their adopted child until they meet them. In addition, the American families paid few thousands dollar for adoption, and the money goes to Chine se government. On the other hand, other girls stay their entire childhood in institution of child welfare or their parents or relative sold them. Many Chinese girls are sold to somewhere and their life is horrible. For example, a girl was beaten up and broke her leg and arm so that some organization save these female, or other organization campaign for sexual equality. In conclusion, this issue is bigger and bigger in China; therefore, few years later many men cannot marry because of imbalance of gender problem. And also, most families have only one child in their family so that many kids are spoiled in China. I knew about china's one child policy but I did not know boys are so important than girls; even girls are aborted, hidden, abandoned, or even killed. I was so surprised.I am happy for those girls who were adapted to American family; however, still many other girls have tough life. I think that this is very difficult issue because population of China is huge; however, government has to think about different way to reduce population. Otherwise, girls are kidnap more often because women have to give a birth, but if women are not enough population, a family cannot continue to have descendant. In addition, there are a lot of spoiled children because of one child policy in China so that it might makes unhealthy or violence country in future.

Lab Report on Enzyme Reactions
Lab report April 14, 2013 Abstract: In this article, we will experiment on the significant in strength of the enzyme by using three different test tubes and measuring the amount of product they give off. To determine this we are going to test the amount of color absorbance by using a special tool to help us understand our results. We will see how our end results show the effect of the amount of concentration we apply to each test tube. The results would be shown by the support of two graphs. Introduction:Enzymes are highly important because of the significant role they play in living things and animals. They are a factor which allows whether or not a reaction occurs. To find out the amount of strength an enzyme has, we need to first understand our outcome. In this experiment, our products will determine the strength of our enzymes by measuring the amount of color change. We must understand the measurement of the appearing product means in the experiment. We will determine this by usi ng a special equipment to help us understand our result better. In this study we will see how a specific enzyme could vary based on the different types of factors that affect it. The question we are going to be addressing in this study is, will the amount of enzyme concentration affect a reaction? Materials and Methods: The materials used in the making of this experiment are as stated: Three test tubes, 10. 5mL of distilled water, 6mL of Catechol, 1. 5mL of Extract(potato), a Spectronic 20 (spectrophotometer), Wax pencil, a Test tube rack, three Parafilm, tissues to clean the Spectronic 20 and the test tubes, 3 pipets and a timer. So we wonââ¬â¢t confuse ourselves, we used the wax pencil to label each test tube as we placed the required amount of substance in each of them. To avoid any slight errors, we also used three different pipets for the three required materials, which are the distilled water, catechol and the extract, respectively. Itââ¬â¢s important to take the precise m easurement so there wonââ¬â¢t be any errors in doing the experiment. Itââ¬â¢s also important that the extract goes last due to the reaction occurring in a timed pace. Results:According to the graph shown above, we see our lay out of the experiment being done. We can see how the materials are being distributed in each test tube according to the amount of ingredients required. This is highly crucial because a slight mistake can impact the experiment being done. Our end result is as follows: According to the experiment done today, we see that in test tube two, it show the most absorbance or color change. This shows that the enzymeââ¬â¢s strength was stronger than the rest, resulting into having more reaction and color change among the others.Discussion: As stated before, the question we had was, will the amount of enzyme concentration affect a reaction? The end result was yes, the amount of enzyme concentrated inserted into each test tube did have a significant affect to the r eaction by the amount of products it gave off (color strength). We used the extract (enzyme) as our independent variable because this is what we are testing. In contrast, we used the amount of absorbance as our dependent variable. We also made sure that our control done in this experiment was the catechol. As predicted, we were able to have more enzyme reaction in one of the test tubes than the others. The knowledge we gain today was how much the amount of concentration enzyme affects the other ingredients. We see that our experiment done today can further lead into more research as in how enzymes are used to rapid an action. Itââ¬â¢s also important because we should know the reason why and how enzymes reactions occur at a fast rate.

Total Quality Management & its application in Coca-Cola Turkey. (How Essay
Total Quality Management & its application in Coca-Cola Turkey. (How critical is it in a rapidly developing world for the Coca-Cola Company's Turkey future to maintain Total Quality Management) - Essay Example CCI claims to be implementing TQM. Sufficient volume of literature was available on the subject of TQM, its principles and the tools to implement TQM. After review of the literature interviews were taken. The second chapter concentrates on TQM ââ¬â history, principles, approach and application. Through the literature review it has been demonstrated that TQM is a process where responsibility has to be shared by all departments. Since the process of achieving TQM involves changes in the culture, there is a correlation between TQM principles and culture. The history of TQM has been discussed at length. It has been found that TQM is based on the human element in any organization and hence the principles would be the same in any country even though the culture and the behavioural patterns would differ. The definition of quality has been discussed and it has been established that TQM involves satisfaction of both the internal and the external customer. Attaining TQM also involves team work because all departments have to be in unison. To achieve TQM a quality system has to be developed and this requires understanding the needs of the customer. A proper system also enables the organizat ion to use its resources efficiently. Empowerment is the most important technique of TQM. To study the extent to which Coca-Colaââ¬â¢s applies the principles of TQM the methodology adopted was to examine its mission, vision, and values, which the company claims reflects in its actions. The third chapter deals with the research that was undertaken based on the assumption that a company of the magnitude of Coca-Cola could not be wrong in their claims. The study was focused on their unit in Turkey. Secondary data was collected through books, academic journal and internet articles and publications. Primary data was collected through interview of seven officials at their Turkey unit ââ¬â CCI. Since there was nothing to be

Position paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 2
Position paper - Essay Example s the male bodyâ⬠is also talking about these learned assumptions of individuals when they perceive certain images specifically when they look at advertisements. However, Border argues that trends are changing but she also affirms that this is how people perceive certain aspects in society with false assumptions without relating it to the true meaning of those images. In short, it is seen that every image has emotional effects on an individual as well on the society and Berger and Border are providing strong arguments on this assertion so that people are made aware of looking the images in a new light in order to see the true meaning behind the content. John Berger in his book, ââ¬Å"Ways of seeingâ⬠argues that the meaning of images and pictures, which are reproduced, have become smeared and distorted and the technology has affected an individualââ¬â¢s mind in perceiving images. According to him, people are adapting to the changes subconsciously without looking at its originality. He further argues that a distorted perception of a particular image loses its meaning (Berger). Berger states ââ¬Å"The way we see things is affected by what we know or what we believe inâ⬠(Berger p.141) which means people while looking at any image presume what it is depicting without further knowledge of its existence. Berger describes in his book that there are many paintings present around old cathedral. These paintings were hard to reproduce. Most of the people perceive them as an addition of colors around that area and fail to acknowledge its presence, which indicated that those paintings were actually part of the room. In the same way, he mentions that when people go to Louve to look at the painting of Mona Lisa, they only perceive it as looking at the painting by Leonardo da Vinci and do not know its significance and worth when the painter designed it. Likewise, when people go to the National Gallery in London to look at the virgin of the Rocks another painting of Leonardo da

Language development& early literacy in multilingual context Essay
Language development& early literacy in multilingual context - Essay Example In multilingual contexts, the learning experience and process of the first language significantly affects the acquisition of the second and other additional languages (Robertson and Nunn 2006). Basing on this, this essay tries to highlight the role of an early childhood practitioner in the learning process. It highlights the appropriate planning and implementation of the learning process in such contexts. This essay explains the childhood language learning process, together with the factors affecting language development. It also discusses the current approaches in childhood language learning and gives ways that can be used to improve the process. Before writing this essay, a number of ethical issues and confidentiality have been taken into account. The first thing that has been taken into account is to provide information that has no bias. This essay tries to provide practices and theories that can be used all over the world to better the learning process in early childhood learning centers. In addition to this, this essay cites all the sources from which the information used has been obtained. This will help readers to read more about the topic in case they need more inf ormation (Wang 2011). Language development at an early age is an important process and needs keen concern and support. It forms the foundation on which future language learning and literacy acquisition is build. The degree and ease with which children learn a language can also be a great predictor of future academic success and has many long-term implications in the social and economic sectors. This affects the development and interactivity of individuals in a family and in the society. Many things in the society affect language learning at an early age. This is because, during the learning process, a child always interprets information from the environment and forms his or her own perceptions of what language is and of how to
